FedUp! is the Pittsburgh chapter of the Human Rights Coalition dedicated to upholding the rights of prisoners through providing resources and support, exposing injustices, and building relationships with people in prison and their advocates. We are a organization of concerned citizens, people in prison and their loved ones. Our focus is on high level security facilities in Pennsylvania.
FedUp! on Panel at Broken on All Sides Film Screening
HRC FedUp! member Bret Grote participated on a panel with Martha Conley from Pennsylvanians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, after a film screening of a newish documentary on the U.S. prison system called Broken on All Sides. The event took place on November 4th in Pittsburgh and was hosted by the Race and Reconciliation Dialog group of St. Paul's Cathedral.
Martha spoke on the New Jim Crow, the 13th Amendment's continued
legalization of slavery, prison profiteering, and working with prisoners
on death row.
Bret talked about solitary confinement in Pennsylvania prisons and building a movement to support and organize with incarcerated people.
